    When you are ready to take a tour around Lixiping Leisure Agricultural Area you may need enough information as a guide inside the area. Because in this area there are many leisure farms that may draw your attention. But no need to worry about it, you just need to go to Lixiping Industrial and Cultural Development Association offices. This association will help you to get more information about leisure farm activities in this area.

Office of Lixiping Recreational Agricultural District

       Lixiping Tourism Service Centre, that is, Lixiping Industrial and Cultural Development Association reception office provides all the information about the area. Locating it is not an issue at all; just follow the main road and turn left you will find a simple building in the left side between farmlands. This information centre just like a bridge connecting two sides, leisure farms and tourists from both sides. On the leisure farm aspect, this association helps promote all the leisure farms activities and facilities and further define the differences between the leisure farms. They go further than that and explain about their main farming activities and products.

Lixiping leisure agricultural area is a well-known herbs theme park and also available are organic vegetables, high stem-grafted pears (Asian pears), guavas, star fruits, grapes, strawberries, tomatoes, flowers, and more useful plants. On the other side, the association also helps the tourists by providing them with information on  leisure farming activities. They make some brochures and pamphlets to support their explaination to the tourists. The Taiwanese people are very kind and helpful, no matter what you need they will try their best to help you and even give directions.

       Lixiping Industrial and Cultural Development Association is a Taiwan government parastatal responsible for organizing various events in this leisure farm area. The different events held are Harvesting Festival, You Tong Hua Festival, and many more. You Tong Hua are a tree that has white flowers representing Hakka people. Harvesting Festival will be held on July 20-21, 2013. 

In this festival, the association prepares the fruits ornamentals and flower cotton to decorate the fence near the road.

It’s an interesting activity, such that even me as a as a volunteer, also help them to make the ornamentals and also decorate the fence. On that day, they have 3 activities during the events; the first is a bazaar of fruits with 30 booths and they will share traditional cake for all the visitors. Secondly, they provide a bus to take tourists around Lixiping Leisure Agricultural Area; and lastly is the celebration of the harvest. The harvesting competition is open to the farmers who compete among themselves such that the farmer with the sweetest fruit is declared the winner. The prizes are also fantastic, with the first prize being a motor cycle, and the rest of the prizes are flat television screens and refrigerators. It is very interesting, isn’t it? So don’t waste your time and visit Lixiping Leisure Agricultural Area!

Organic Tomato at Tai San Leisure Farm and Fu De Leisure Farm

     This leisure farm is a family business and the owner is a sibling. Both of the leisure farms grow tomato as their main product, and for the second plant they growth different plant. Tai San leisure farm is located across Hua Lu Leisure Farm.

       Besides grow organic fruit, this leisure farm also has a restaurant. As mentioned before, the main product of Tai San is tomato. There are two kinds of tomato planted here, namely red tomato and golden tomato. Golden tomato itself is a main product of Lisiping Leisure Agricultural District.

    The second plant of Tai San leisure farm is paprika, including red-green-yellow-paprika and guava. In this leisure farm, the visitors can buy and pick the fruit as they want. Each visitor will get a box to put the fruit they pick.

       And if they feel enough, they can go to the Lao Pan to weight the fruit and pay how much they should pay. This kind of marketing is very good because the visitors can experience and learn directly how to pick and harvest the fruit in a right way.

      They also can ask to the owner about how to grow these organic fruit. The price of fruit in here is a little bit more expensive because it is organic. In this leisure farm, 1 kg of tomato is 60 NT, and 1 kg of paprika is 160 NT.

       Fu De Leisure Farm grows organic fruits and vegetables and it is also let the visitors to pick them by themselves. Now, this leisure farm is growing red tomato, golden tomato, paprika, corn, guava, cucumber and hot pepper. All of them are grown in a green house. In the winter season, the farm will also grow leak and lettuce. When we come to this farm, many guava and corn plant are broke because of typhoon which comes two days before.

First Trip to Checheng Village

 Checheng is a small village located in the northern mountain area of Shueili Township, Nanthou County, Taiwan. It is the last stop of train on Jiji Railway Line. Checheng village is a recreational agriculture district which is famous with wood crafts. 

By Train to Checheng

       During the journey to Checheng, it is better for us to bring some snack, because it is need about 2 hours from Changhua Train Station by train. However, we can see beautiful sceneries during the journey, with a lot of fields and forests.  Right after the train stop at Checheng, we see a beautiful woody architectures. And it’s all about wood. ^^

      Not only families, but also students from somewhere in Taiwan, even foreigner often come here especially in holiday time. Checheng is a good place to relax. No pollution, no noise, no traffic jam, but green and fresh nature.

Mountain Area

     Checheng Leisure Farm is divided into two areas. Right after we get off from train, we’ll see Wood and Train Museum. And if we drive up to the mountain, there will be an orchid green house. If you are a foreigner who does not speak Mandarin as well, you might not worry. Because there will be a tour guide who will guide us and explain all the things here in English. ^^ We just need to go to Information Center, and then ask them to guide us around this place. Then, here we go……!

Hua Lu (Flower Home) Leisure Farm

    Hua Lu (Flower Home) is one of the home stay and leisure farm in Lisiping area. This place has a pleasant smell because there are so many flowers and herbs in every spot of this place. They also use these as a raw material for the product in which they sell in their gallery.

        Much kind of things are sold in this place. The most special in here is soapberry seed. It has black color and they use it to make a diswash soap. This becomes the main product of Hua Lu recently. The price is quite expensive rather than other dishwash soap product which is sold in the market. It is 1000 NT for 5000 mL.

The gallery also sell many plant they growth. All the plant in here is very fresh and in good condition because the owner also takes care of her plant helped by many workers in the farm. They sell in a variation price according on size and types of the plant. It ranges between 50 NT to 1500 NT.

Hua Lu has a very nice and comfortable home stay. The interior design is so homey and warm. Very recommended as a place to stay with family or honeymoon for a newly-wed couple. It also has health and wellness restaurant in which only sell a nutritious food and good for our body. The design of this restaurant is very magnificent because it has a pond with fish and a smoke effect that will make us feel like we are eating in hot-spring area. Beside this restaurant, it still has two other restaurants. And all of them also provide healthy food by add some Chinese medicine on their food.

Other facilities in this area are kid’s playground, garden spot to take picture, lavender garden, and herbs garden. As information, this place has a unique toilet because the shape of the water closet is like a flower and also it has fresh- smell toilet.

Lixiping Leisure Agricultural District: Vila~Villa

       After we arrive and have a simple breaking about what will we do in Lisiping Leisure Agricultural District, Mr. Zhong and Choi Ai escort us to the place in where we want to stay during our internship. It is one of the most popular homestay in Lisiping Area because it ever is a shooting location of one of Taiwan Drama in 2012, Princess of S.O.P. The name of this place is VilaVilla.

 This place has modern- western design and decoration with green garden everywhere. It has many beautiful and nice spot to take picture. To enter the area of VilaVilla, the visitors must pay 150 NT and they can enjoy all the nice view. This place always has visitors everyday and even very busy in the weekend.

    VilaVilla itself has 5 room with different design, large, and price for the visitors. The owner of VilaVilla also lives in the house inside the area. She has two sons who always nice to us during our stay. The eldest son helps his parent to work in VilaVilla because this time is coinciding with the summer vacation.

The nice view of VilaVilla is also completed by restaurant and many friendly and perceptive servants whom ready througout the area. This restaurant is very popular for the visitor because has a good taste. That’s why this restaurant always full of visitors. Besides that, this place also has mini souvenir shop, horse stable with one agile horse, tree house, and small lake with a bridge that confirm it’s natural view.

Summer vacation has begun. Have you decided where you should  spend your summer holidays? Maybe some of you will prefer going to the beach, but I urge you to think twice. Why don’t you try something new this time? How about mountain climbing? Isn’t it cool and fascinating? I think mountain could be the best alternative activity to explore thus expanding your different summer vacation experience. As we know that Taiwan is an island country which has many popular huge green mountains. So I bet, it is a best idea to know more about green mountain agritourism in Taiwan.

Main Gate to Lisiping District

Since Taiwan has so many green mountains, it’s my pleasure to introduce one of them that have beautiful scenery and tourist spot, and that is none either than Lixiping Leisure Agricultural Area. Lixiping Leisure Agricultural Area is located in Jhoulan township, Miaoli county. In this area you can freely choose which place do you want to visit and have the  feeling of reflecting back to nature, because it has many leisure farms that could attract your attention. Lixiping Leisure Agricultural Area consists of tourist spots such as Vilavilla, Taisan leisure farm, Hualu leisure farm, Fu De leisure farm, Huazizai homestay and leisure farm, Xiang Cun Xiao Lu tourist orchard, Yixinyuan leisure farm, Bei-Ou leisure farm and SPA, Doumama tourist orchard, Zhaoyang leisure farm, Chang Hui tourist orchard, and No 17 Homestay and Restaurant. All the mentioned spots are worth exploring and confirm the natural feeling and beautiful scenery.

Both sides of the road, the left and ride side you will see various trees of different sizes and architecture and the most interesting feature near the road there are the artful stacked stones by the skilled Taiwanese people.

With an earthquake of about 4.5 on the Richter scale which struck Miaoli years back, the stone artefacts were not disturbed at all they stood still as the groundsman confessed. Moreover, the squeaking sounds of the birds provide an inner peace feeling inside the area.
